DO NOT try to mix this package directly into your container of paint as it will not all fit! It is best to get a second or larger container to use for mixing purposes. Simply pour your well mixed container of paint into the larger sized container and slowley mix in the Insuladd® while stirring. When finished painting, store any unused paint in its original container. Add the package of Insuladd® gradually to your paint while stirring to avoid clumping of the additive. Make sure to completely mix all of the Insuladd® into your paint! Always stir your paint for a minute or two prior to beginning if the paint has been sitting for more than 2 hours since last used. Spray painting with Insuladd®: Many people own or rent paint sprayerssprayers and most are perfectly suited for use in applying paint using Insuladd®. IMPORTANT: Remove the small cartridge filter from the spray gun prior to painting with Insuladd® since the filter could strain all of the Insuladd® from the paint and clog.
Paint Texture & Sheen CharacteristicsInsuladd® insulating additive for paint applied to surfaces will leave a mild texture. This texture can be felt but is not usually visible unless Insuladd® is being used in a satin, semi-gloss or high gloss finish where it tends to slightly flatten the paint gloss. If you desire a satin or other gloss sheen finish, we recommend that you apply Insuladd® in a primer coat and then again in the first coat of paint. Complete the process by applying a finish coat without Insuladd® insulating additive. Mildly textured wall coatings are very desirable since they hide numerous defects in a wall surface such as dents, small gouges, and other surface imperfections. Follow your paint manufacturer's instructions regarding the number of coats to apply and clean up procedures. We recommend 2 coats of paint containing Insuladd®) Where a gloss is desired on trim or millwork, we recommend that you not paint these areas with Insuladd® additive in the paint. You will not notice any color change in paint when Insuladd® is used with light colors such as whites, yellows or lighter pastels. When Insuladd® is added to deep or darker colors, it may lighten the color by up to one color shade. Our customers say the color may be adjusted by tinting the paint one shade darker prior to mixing in Insuladd®. If color shade is critical for your project, consult with your paint contractor or supplier to sample, test and mix to get the desired color shade.
Adding Insuladd® to Stucco MixesTwo 32 fl. oz. packages of Insuladd® should gradually be stirred into a 5 gallon pail of STUCCO MIX. One Contractor Jug of INSULADD® evenly divided into 15 gallons of STUCCO MIX also works fine. It is best to get a second or larger container to use for mixing purposes. Simply pour your well mixed container of STUCCO MIX into the larger sized container and mix in the Insuladd® slowly while stirring. NOTE: If needed add water to achieve the desired consistency! Add Insuladd® gradually to your STUCCO MIX while stirring to avoid clumping of the additive. Make sure to completely mix all of the Insuladd® into your STUCCO MIX!.
